House of Hancock is one of the leading creative advertising agencies in Las Vegas. We know how to think outside the box and think we continue to prove that with the countless advertising campaigns we’ve come up with.
Even though, in our humble opinion, we’re the best ad agency out there, we recognize good, creative advertising when we see it. And seeing ads that make us jealous we didn’t think of that first doesn’t make us mad, it makes us strive to do better. Take these ads that are beyond outside the box:
-Zappos ads in airport security bins. Who knew this ad space was even for sale? The ad agency who wanted to promote Zappos shoes looked for space that a lot of people would see, but wouldn’t soon forget. Airport security bins, which see lots of shoes and are usually a blank, dull gray color, are a great space for shoe ads. The ads were bright, cool colors like green, orange or blue, with outlines of shoes and read “Put shoes here. Buy shoes here: Zappos.com,” and “Great shoes. No line. Zappos.com.” They were also able to promote the fact that they sell more than just shoes; most people also put laptop bags in security bins, right? Zappos maximized this also, with ads that had outlines of a laptop bag or briefcase with text that read, “Need a new case for that laptop?” These ads were a smashing success – their creativity got them noticed and even got them written about on several blogs.

Clear Wireless recently launched a campaign that saw them climb inside the box to think outside the box. As a mobile internet service provider, Clear wanted to demonstrate their abilities to the public in a way no one else has tried. So they got a truck with clear sides and set up an office complete with desk, computer and lounging area with a television. Then they hired someone to sit at that desk and “work” while the driver travels the streets of major metropolitan areas. It’s a novel approach that definitely attracts attention as people wonder just what the heck that is that just pulled up next to them at the stoplight.

-Tide’s Billboard ad. When it comes to billboards, some agencies think they should do something big, loud and eye-catching to make a statement. But Tide took a different approach and proved its point much better. On the side of a busy road, Tide put what appeared to be all white boards up, but there were cut-outs of clothing made of cotton with self-cleaner on there, too; after a few weeks, the boards got dirtier, but the clothing cut-outs stayed white, demonstrating the long-lasting whiteness of Tide detergent. Genius, right? It sent a powerful message to everyone driving by that Tide keeps whites white.

When we need inspiration or are stuck with ideas that have been done before, we look to ads like these for direction. Step outside the box – it makes consumers remember your ads.
